The Royal Guard (近衛騎士団) is an order of knights in the Kingdom of Altar.

The Royal Guard is an order of knights dedicated to the protection of the Kingdom's royal family. All of the members are required to have the high rank job of Paladin and the commander to have the Superior Job of Celestial Knight. The order possesses a storied history, and was formerly the strongest group of tians in the country. All members also have magic cast on them that makes it impossible to hurt members of the royal family.
After the First Knight-Machine War, in which the order's commander and many of the knights who had reached the level cap died, both the power and the reputation of the order diminished greatly, with many in the Kingdom blaming them for allowing the King to die and many of the surviving knights resigning their positions.
Because no one has yet taken up the Celestial Knight Superior Job, the position of commander is still vacant and the order is being led by the vice commander.
